Digital Extremes’ Devstream for Warframe revealed the release date for Warframe: 1999’s follow-up, Techrot Encore, arriving March 19 for free on all platforms. Line up for the big show and check out the setlist early including the 60th Warframe, Temple, four new Protoframe characters and their transforming cosmetics, two reimaginings of the Defense and Deep Archimedea mission types, as well as a new racing mini-game Ollie’s Crash Course.

On the Soulframe Devstream, the team offered more details on the latest update for Preludes (Pre-Alpha Test) players, including two new social hubs tied to the faction system, a faction-based side quest system, and gameplay of the new caster weapon type.

"Warframe will officially turn 12 years old on March 7, a milestone none of us ever thought we would hit when we first started," said Megan Everett, Director of Community at Digital Extremes. "We want to make sure our players know how thankful we are for them through our content plans this year. Techrot Encore marks not only the first major update of our 12th year but also the biggest ‘echoes’ update we’ve ever made to expand out something like Warframe: 1999. We’re stoked to finally bring our surreal space virus boy band to life and everything that comes with them, so get ready for the party of your lifetimes on March 19!"

Highlights from the Warframe Devstream include:

Outrock the competition as the 60th addition to Warframe’s roster, Temple, the flame of revolution.

  • Shred the house down as Temple with heat wave projectiles. Summon Techrot Subwoofer minions to buff nearby fans and debuff the haters. Sing a Solo of the century to set off flame jets. Call upon the sapient, Infested guitar named Lizzie as an Exalted Weapon capable of firing projectiles at the pluck of a string and transforming into a flamethrower for a limited time.

Welcome the four latest additions to the Protoframe family, arriving with their own storylines and Gemini cosmetic skins:

  • Flare (Temple) aims to become the ultimate work of art and transcend the boundaries of gender and biology alike.

  • Minerva (Saryn) and Velimir II (Frost) are hardened military veterans once in love as well as the adoptive parents of Warframe: 1999 antagonist Major Rusalka.

  • Kaya (Nova) acts as the self-taught engineering genius of the new crew with a special interest in cracking time travel.

Master not only the latest endgame content with two new mission types but also a brand new mini-game experience:

  • Harmonize guitar strings with gunfire in Stage Defense, a reimagining of the traditional Defense mission type. Defend Flare as they put on a memorial concert for the bandmates lost to the Scaldra’s oppressive overtaking of the city.

  • Gear up for the latest version of Warframe’s most difficult mission type: Temporal Archimedea. Partner up with Minerva and Velimir II to take on three randomly selected missions back-to-back and utilize the new Peely Pix system from Kaya to choose upgradable modifiers, changing the flow of each attempt.

  • Expanding on Digital Extreme’s Make-A-Wish commitment to James Conlin, players can mount up in the newest Atomicycle racing mini-game as part of the Höllvania Mall Hub arcade collection, Ollie’s Crash Course.

Ahead of Techrot Encore’s launch, Digital Extremes will add new ticket sales for TennoCon 2025’s musical performance and launch an Open Beta for the reworked Warframe Companion App:

Highlights from the Soulframe Devstream include new features and content for Preludes (Pre-Alpha) players:

  • Alongside the previously announced Silent Rose faction, players can look forward to pledging allegiance to two other factions if their goals align, Alca’s Children and Kith of Kings.

  • Explore the two new social Enclave hubs reserved for each faction and take on a new type of side quest to further each group’s goals.

  • The Soullframe team debuted gameplay of the new caster weapon type capable of slinging bolts of energy from both hands and tricking foes into thinking you’re unarmed…
